Summary in plain English
Unremembered is a single-player premium mobile roguelike. It does not require an account. It does not show ads. It does not sell your data. It runs almost entirely offline.
The only data the game stores is your save file — kept on your device. The only optional feature that touches the network is the Daily Challenge leaderboard, which uploads an anonymous score and a randomly-generated device identifier (no personal information).
- Save files — your run progress, deck, relics, unlocked classes, Memory Fragments, completed Daily Challenges, settings.
- Format — local JSON, gzip-compressed, lightly obfuscated, integrity-checked with SHA-256.
- Location — platform user-data directory (
~/Library/Containers/... on iOS, Android/data/... on Android, %APPDATA% on desktop fallback).
- Retention — until you uninstall the game or clear data through OS settings.
- Access — only the game has access; we never read your save file remotely.
- Daily Challenge score — when you complete a Daily Challenge run and choose to submit, the game uploads the seed of the day, your final score, run duration, deck composition hash, and a randomly-generated anonymous device identifier (UUIDv4 created on first launch and stored in your save file). We do not collect, transmit, or correlate any device hardware ID, advertising ID, IP address (beyond standard HTTP request metadata that is discarded after request completion), email address, or other personal identifier.
- Cloud save sync — if you enable iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android) sync, your save file is uploaded to your own cloud storage account through the platform’s first-party API. Allison’s Glossary never sees your save file. The platform vendor (Apple / Google) handles encryption, access, and retention under their own terms.
- Crash reports — if your operating system’s default crash-report opt-in is enabled, Apple TestFlight (during beta) or Google Play Console may collect aggregated, anonymized crash data on our behalf. You can opt out in your OS or in App Store / Play settings. We do not link crash reports to any other identifier.
What we never collect
- Real name, email address, phone number, postal address
- Date of birth, age, or any demographic data
- Photos, contacts, microphone, camera, location
- Browsing history or any cross-app data
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA / GAID) — we do not include any ad SDK
- Payment information — Apple App Store / Google Play handle the purchase end-to-end; we receive only an anonymized purchase receipt
- Third-party analytics — there is no Firebase, GameAnalytics, AppsFlyer, Sentry, or similar in this build
Third parties
The Beta and 1.0 release of Unremembered ships with no third-party SDKs. The only third-party services that may interact with your device are:
- Apple App Store / Apple Game Center — under Apple’s privacy policy
- Google Play / Google Play Games — under Google’s privacy policy
- iCloud / Google Drive — only if you opt in to cloud save sync
- Allison’s Glossary leaderboard backend (post-v0.4.0) — only if you opt in to Daily Challenge submission
We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any data with marketing partners, advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.
Children’s privacy
Unremembered carries Lovecraftian horror themes including madness, body horror, and existential dread. The age rating targets 13+ (App Store) / Teen (Play). The game does not knowingly collect any data from anyone under 13, and does not include features that would enable such collection. If you believe a child under 13 has somehow provided us with any data, please contact us at the address above and we will purge it.
Your rights
Because we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, port, or delete. You can delete your local save file at any time by clearing app data through your OS, or by uninstalling.
If you opt in to the Daily Challenge leaderboard and later wish to remove your scores, contact us with your anonymous device identifier (visible in the in-game Settings → Privacy panel) and we will purge any record matching it within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change what data the game collects, we will publish a new version of this document, bump the Version field above, and surface an in-game notice on the next launch. Continued use after such a notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
The full version history of this document is public on GitHub: https://github.com/Allison2324/unremembered/commits/main/docs/legal/privacy-policy.md.
This policy is best-effort by an indie studio of one. It is not legal advice and has not been reviewed by counsel. If you are a privacy regulator or affected user and notice a gap, please reach out — we will fix it.
